"I just happened to get dear Xalan for my first round back to MAX! I decided to do Starlene and at first my idea was to do a very simple, stylized version of Starlene (which was inspired by some fashion illustrations that I had seen recently). When I was done with it, I really liked it myself but I was afraid that Xalan wouldn't. So I'm offering up that one as a bonus submission instead. For my actual submission I did a semi portrait picture of Starlene, which I'm really happy with. The hand on her hip was a tad difficult given the angle - and after looking at my own hand in the mirror a billion times I left it at that and I think it turned out pretty well given the angle of the hand. "Did two pictures this time. The first one,the colored one, is my main entry. I couldn't tell is the character (Ace of Hearts) was a boy or a girl, but I figured that since Dot Warner mention getting ispiration from valkyries (sp?) it was probably female. I tried to keep things on a heart type theme, I hope she likes it. The second picture i did just to see if I could. It's the same as the first one, but I tried to use some of Dot's style here. "Jen supplied no image for this character, and encouraged the use of "your own imagination". A lengthy description was supplied, as follows: a slender man. About 5' 10", slim in stature with long legs and lithe body, much like an elf's. his skin is pale over his sharp facial features, intense icy blue eyes usually under half open lids, his hair, pale blond locks tinted blue flow freely about his face in all manner of lengths. His clothes aren't extravagant, but look neat and well made: dark grey cloak rimmed with fur, matching grey vest, an almost white shirt, hinting at blue, and then dark navy pants laced snugly against his body and grey boots. So I went ahead and drew Zephyrus. But that's kind of boring, so I went through the same description, reversed all the parameters, and drew what is essentially the visual antithesis of Zephyrus.
